Work

Hamilton has one of the oldest downtowns in Canada – including the site of the first-ever telephone exchange in the British Empire. That sense of connectivity continues today, with Downtown Hamilton enjoying one of the strongest broadband networks in all of Ontario and a great selection of adaptive reuse buildings that can accommodate the brick-and-beam office or Class A office space for a more corporate look.

The leasing rates of Hamilton’s downtown office spaces are generally a third to half the cost of those found in Downtown Toronto, making Downtown Hamilton the ideal location for satellite office space or major regional office locations.

Get Around

Stay connected. Hamilton offers many transportation options, including a comprehensive and rapidly expanding cycling network – accompanied by bike and e-scooter share programs. Smart Commute and car share services are also available.

The City’s HSR bus network has been re-envisioned and re-designed to meet community needs and connects with Ontario’s GO Transit network through local bus and train terminals, including two downtown stations – Hamilton GO Centre and West Harbour GO – which provide seamless travel to the Greater Toronto Area. Riders can use PRESTO to make travel even more efficient and convenient.

Work is also underway on Hamilton’s Light Rail Transit (LRT) system – a $3.4-billion project that will see 17 stops run along 14 kilometres – travelling through the downtown core and connecting the lower city from McMaster University in the west to Eastgate Square in the east.

Live

Downtown Hamilton is a great place to grab a bite, watch a movie, take in some art, and treat the one you’re crazy about to some fun on the town.

It is the city’s largest employment centre and has many shops to explore and dishes to enjoy. It is just minutes from great trails and a waterfront in a nearly $150 million renewal process.

Downtown Hamilton is both a home base and a place to explore.
