Getting a slice of the action- Roma Bakery is expanding!

Roma Bakery is the place out of towners “knead to know” as it is a Hamilton anchor and mainstay for pizza, specifically no-cheese slab pizza. The bakery recently celebrated their 70th anniversary and plans to expand their existing facility from 4,000 to 8,000 square feet with a new retail space, production area and office. The expansion is expected to be completed by fall 2023 and increase the number of full and part-time staff from 60 to 80 employees.

Roma, opened in 1952 by Philip DiFilippo and his wife Pauline. It started as a small bakery with door-to-door delivery service and expanded over the years, gradually adding new products to their menus including pastries, hot food and deli meats and cheeses.

Roma Bakery makes anywhere from 500-1,500 pizzas a day with three trucks delivering in the area to approximately 70 stores within the Hamilton, Halton, and Niagara area. During the pandemic, Roma has been responding to requests for pizza from distant locations such as Canada, California and even China!
