Hamilton’s downtown is poised for a post-pandemic growth as much of the commercial core appears to be on the mend.
During the pandemic there were approximately 10 percent storefront vacancies in the downtown core. This is roughly the same rate reported in 2019. Judy Lam, Manager Commercial Districts and Small Business was quoted, “The downtown retail environment is not as bad as what we feared. There’s been just a few areas where there may have been a slight increase in vacancies, but, as a whole, it’s actually fared fairly well.”
