McMaster Innovation Park fills the gap for scaling Life Sciences companies

The pandemic has highlighted a gap for biotech businesses that are ready to scale – there is no space for them to expand into 100-200 employee firms. MIP is filling that gap.

For the past decade there has been significant growth in life science incubator spaces. They are the perfect fit for a startup with employees of less than a dozen, but what about the businesses that have started to scale and they want to invest up to 100-200 more staff? There’s almost nowhere to go. Ty Shattuck, McMaster Innovation Park’s CEO says, “It’s a problem for Canada as a nation because we put in all the heavy lifting in discovery and startup but just as these companies gain traction, they have to leave the country, often to the Boston or San Francisco areas.”
