In 2018, Hamilton saw a 50% increase in film permits from 2017. Hamilton has more than 550 film friendly locations and more than 200 distinct neighbourhoods. In Hamilton may location managers and scouts have access to an urban downtown, a small town feel, heritage buildings, nature including waterfalls, industrial spaces, waterfront, and lots of green space to name a few. The City of Hamilton is already Canada’s third-largest film cluster and is home to over 9,000 people who work in the film industry and over 900 film businesses.
