Atlantic Packaging opens 560,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant in Hamilton

Atlantic Packaging Products, Ltd., a Canadian-owned and operated company based in Scarborough, Ontario, celebrated the grand opening of its newest manufacturing plant in Hamilton. This state-of-the-art, 560,000 sq. ft. facility was unveiled at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday (Oct. 10, 2024).

Atlantic Packaging says the new plant aims to serve valued customers and, by creating 150 job opportunities, reflects the company’s commitment to the local community.

“We are excited to start our new site in Hamilton and to be part of the city’s growth,” said Sean Weir, President of Atlantic Packaging. “This facility will help us better serve our customers, and we look forward to working here for years to come. We extend our gratitude to the City of Hamilton for their support throughout the building process.”

Atlantic Packaging added that its facility was developed in response to customer needs, enhancing its ability to provide sustainable, high-quality packaging solutions while expanding its capacity to support customer growth.

Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath says the company’s arrival checks multiple boxes on the City’s priority list.

“This investment will create good-paying jobs for Hamiltonians while strengthening the local supply chain for the food and beverage sector,” Horwath said. “Atlantic Packaging’s focus on sustainability in production speaks to Hamilton’s focus on growing our economy while acting as strong environmental stewards, which aligns with the City of Hamilton’s Term of Council priority: Sustainable Economic & Ecological Development.”

Hamilton’s advanced manufacturing sector is a cornerstone of the city’s economy, contributing $12 billion to Ontario’s economy.
