Latitude Air Ambulance is establishing a permanent home at John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport. Having leased the space since 2009, the company held a groundbreaking ceremony on Dec. 15 for its new complex.
The 44,000-square-foot projected is expected to be completed by late 2024.
Peter Byl, President and CEO of Latitude Air Ambulance, emphasized the strategic decision to build a permanent facility in Hamilton, citing the airport’s international capabilities, access to a substantial labour market, significant growth potential, and the opportunity for collaborations with local health-care and academic organizations.
Latitude has evolved from one airplane and six people to eight airplanes and 118 members, with further growth on the horizon. The company anticipates a 50 per cent surge in employee levels within two years of the new facility’s completion.
Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath congratulated Latitude on behalf of the city and council, acknowledging its commitment to integrity, compassion, and trust.
