DHL’s new $100 million facility is four times larger than its old footprint at the Hamilton International Airport
On September 28, 2021, Germany-based shipping company DHL opened the doors on its new $100 million facility at the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport. The new 240,000 square foot building is approximately four times the size of the company’s former facility.
One of the new state-of-the-art features found at this site includes a fully automated sorting system that has the capacity to process 28,000 packages per hour.
DHL noted that the airport’s 24-hour landing capability, as well as dedicated Canada Border Services Agency staff on site, were at the forefront of their decision to build the Hamilton facility and make it the company’s hub for Ontario.
