A Note From The Director
Over the past few months, the world has experienced a pandemic which has taken an enormous toll on our collective health and economy. I am heartened by the fact that through excellent public health management in Hamilton we are starting to see signs of recovery. From the Mayor’s Task Force on Economic Recovery, to the property tax assistance program, to the creation of Outdoor Dining Districts, to the expansion of the Digital Main Street program, to strong partnerships with all three Chambers of Commerce and 13 BIAs in providing up to date economic information, we have and will continue to be searching for new ways to help Hamilton’s business community.
As Director of the Economic Development Office I want to take a moment to thank Hamilton’s investment community. Your commitment to our shared economy is sincerely appreciated and I want to assure you that our team continues to be here when you need us now and in future days with all your investment needs.
– Norm Schleehahn- Director, Economic Development, City of Hamilton
Economic Recovery Task Force Has Started
As part of the COVID-19 management plan, Hamilton City Council provided direction to create the Mayor’s Task Force on Economic Recovery. This group, made up of Mayor Eisenberger, Councillors Naan, Danko and Whitehead and a collection of 24 individuals representing the private, public and non-profit sectors have commenced work to identify short to medium term actionable items to get Hamilton’s economy moving again. This group is expected to be active over the next several months and if you would like to view the first meeting held on June 4th, please click the link below:
Looking To Hire, Looking For Work?
Recently, Workforce Planning Hamilton, in partnership with the Economic Development Office, introduced a new tool to help the local business community looking to hire and those looking for work. The COVID-19 job board aims to connect job providers with job seekers during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is another way the community is coming together to help those most affected by the pandemic and if you have a position you would like to post or know of someone who is currently looking for work, please share this following link:

Construction Ramps Up
As we emerge from the COVID-19 business lockdown, many construction projects are back on schedule. Here are some highlights from across the city that show that Hamilton is once again open for business.
