How to Start a Beauty or Fashion Business

February 23 @ 10:00 am 11:30 am

Location: Online.

Delivered by one of the world’s leading trademark professionals and an esteemed lawyer in fashion and branding, this webinar will provide you with an overview of the practical steps needed to develop your fashion and/or beauty business in Toronto. You will learn about important fundamentals, including business planning, as well as understanding the regulatory requirements specific to the fashion and/or beauty sectors; protecting your designs as intellectual property; sourcing and navigating the supply chain; funding, marketing, and branding your fashion business effectively; pricing your business to turn a profit; and, of course, what you should do and know before you launch.

What you will learn:

  • What do I need to consider when developing a business plan for my fashion business?
  • What is a CA number? Why should I care about the Food and Drug Act? What are regulatory requirements that apply to fashion and beauty businesses and what do I need to do to comply?
  • Where do I find customers? How do I gain exposure?
  • Where can I get funding for my small business?
  • How and where do I source fabrics, ingredients, and other materials?
  • Why does my logo matter?
  • I’m just making hats and lotions! Why do I need insurance?
  • How do I make sure I’m setting my price high enough to make money and still be competitive?
  • I’ve planned and I feel ready to launch. Now what?
