Hamilton is home to one of Ontario’s largest and most diverse agricultural sectors, with farms and agri-businesses playing a critical role in the local economy. To support continued growth and investment in agriculture, the City of Hamilton is exploring new opportunities to help farmers and agricultural businesses expand, innovate, and diversify their operations.
As part of this work, the City is conducting a feasibility study to examine the potential for a new Agricultural Community Improvement Plan (CIP). The study will help identify grant programs, financial incentives, and other economic development tools that could support agricultural businesses across Hamilton.
Whether you’re considering expanding your operation, investing in new technology, creating value-added products, or exploring new revenue streams, your feedback can help shape future support programs.
The City is looking to better understand the opportunities and challenges facing Hamilton’s farming community and how an Agricultural CIP could encourage:
Input from farmers, agricultural businesses, agri-food entrepreneurs, and industry stakeholders will help inform the recommendations emerging from the feasibility study.
City staff will engage with the agricultural community throughout the summer and encourage farmers and agribusiness owners to share their perspectives.
