Invest in Hamilton is partnering with PORCH, an exclusive network for immigrant entrepreneurs, to strengthen our commitment to supporting international businesses launching and growing in Hamilton. PORCH provides a welcoming community for newcomers to Canada and immigrants in Canada, offering resources, networking and connections, and expertise to navigate the Canadian business landscape.

Hamilton is the first municipality to officially partner with PORCH.

Newcomer entrepreneurs often face unique challenges, such as understanding local business practices and accessing trustworthy resources and advice. PORCH addresses these barriers through: 

• Networking opportunities in Ontario: Connecting entrepreneurs with peers and industry professionals.
• Digital platform: Facilitating online conferences and knowledge sharing among other entrepreneurs and industry experts.
• In-person events: Offering engaging events in Hamilton and beyond to foster relationships and learning.
• Weekly sessions: Providing insights into the Canadian market and access to expert guidance. 

This pilot partnership complements Invest in Hamilton’s existing Soft Landing Service, which assists international companies with establishing a presence in Hamilton. Entrepreneurs utilizing this service gain access to the local business network, professional services, office space, entrepreneurship programs, connections to local community and settlement services through the Hamilton Immigration Partnership Council (HIPC), and now, PORCH. 

Invest in Hamilton’s presence on the PORCH platform also creates a new avenue to engage with newcomer entrepreneurs, showcasing Hamilton’s advantages as a business destination with its strategic location, vibrant tech scene, diverse economy, and key sectors.
