The Heritage Revitalization Loan Program provides interest-free loans to help conserve, restore, and re-use designated heritage properties across Hamilton. The program supports structural and conservation work that maintains or enhances heritage attributes, ensuring projects align with best practices and municipal heritage guidelines.
Eligibility
- Property must be designated under Part IV or Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act.
- Applicant must be the registered property owner (or condominium/co-operative corporation for multi-owner properties).
- All property taxes must be current and in good standing.
- No outstanding Building Code, Fire Code, or Property Standards Orders.
- Heritage Permit approvals must be obtained where required.
- Work must not begin before applying (exceptions at City’s discretion).
- Applicant must demonstrate financial capability and meet minimum equity and credit requirements.
Amount
10-year, interest-free loan of up to $100,000 per property for eligible heritage conservation work.
