The Heritage Revitalization Grant Program provides financial assistance in the form of a Grant to assist in conserving, developing, and re-using heritage properties. This Program will apply City-wide for those properties designated under Part IV or Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act.
The Heritage Revitalization Grant Program is open to property owners and tenants (with owner consent) of properties designated under Part IV or Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act within the City of Hamilton. Eligible applicants must ensure property taxes are current, the property complies with zoning regulations, and there are no outstanding Building Code, Fire Code, or Property Standards Orders.
Grants are available for heritage-related reports and conservation work, with funding amounts based on property use: up to $1,500 for reports and $10,000 for work for residential properties (Category A), and up to $20,000 for reports and $150,000 for work for all other property types (Category B).
Applications must be submitted before work begins, include required documentation and estimates, and meet all heritage permit and regulatory approvals.
For properties containing a Single-Detached, Semi-Detached, Duplex, Triplex, Fourplex, Street Townhouse and Multiple Dwelling Townhouse residential dwelling(s), as defined within City of Hamilton Zoning By-law No. 05-200:
