The Commercial Vacancy Assistance Program provides financial support to new permanent or pop-up commercial tenants occupying a previously vacant space. The funding is intended to help make permanent interior improvements that enhance the attractiveness and functionality of the space for its intended commercial use.
Eligibility
Applies to commercial units in properties zoned for commercial use within the following Community Improvement Project Areas: Ancaster, Barton Village, Binbrook, Concession Street, Downtown Hamilton, Dundas, Locke Street, Ottawa Street, Stoney Creek, Waterdown, and Westdale Commercial Districts, as well as the Mount Hope/Airport Gateway and all Strategic Commercial Corridors.
Amount
The maximum grant under this program is paid on a matching (50-50) basis for eligible work, up to $5,000 for lease terms between three months and just under six months, or up to $10,000 for lease terms of six months or longer. For details, please refer to the full program description.
