Porter Airlines is set to launch a new air service from John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport this summer. This expansion will connect Hamilton from coast to coast with daily flights to Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, and Vancouver.
These new routes, announced Tuesday (Feb. 4, 2025), coincide with a multi-million-dollar expansion that includes airport terminal enhancements.
Enhanced Airport Experience
The introduction of Porter’s service aligns with ongoing enhancements at Hamilton International. The airport indicates that passengers will benefit from new and expanded curb canopies, updated terminal interiors, new digital signage, and architectural and design finishes inspired by the region’s natural geography. Future enhancements will include passenger jet bridges and upgrades to terminal infrastructure to accommodate anticipated air traffic growth.

Strategic Partnership and Community Impact
The new partnership between Porter Airlines and TradePort International Corporation, facilitated by a landmark 49-year management lease with the City of Hamilton, marks a significant investment in the airport’s future. This collaboration aims to expand air service, enhance the passenger experience, and drive the region’s economic growth and job creation.
“We are delighted to welcome Porter Airlines to Hamilton International as a strategic airline partner,” said Cole Horncastle, Executive Managing Director of John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport. “Porter’s elevated economy service and air service connecting passengers to key destinations across Canada are a perfect fit for the stress-free, convenient airport experience we offer here.”
Mayor Andrea Horwath echoed this sentiment, highlighting the transformative impact of this partnership on Hamilton’s passenger service offerings and the broader community.
“I am absolutely thrilled to welcome Porter Airlines to Hamilton’s John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport and to see Vantage Group’s continued investment to enhance passenger facilities. This is a major win for the City of Hamilton and will significantly transform our airport’s passenger service offerings. For years, the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport has been home to Canada’s largest domestic overnight express cargo service, fueling our community’s economic growth and creating jobs,” said Mayor Horwath.
“But Hamiltonians have also longed for more robust passenger options to serve travellers from our city and surrounding communities. The strategic partnership between Porter Airlines and Vantage Group/TradePort, with whom the city recently completed a successful new long-term lease, is a significant investment that will rejuvenate and boost passenger services and will benefit residents, businesses, and the broader region for decades to come.”
The City of Hamilton and TradePort International Corporation finalized a historic $400 million agreement in Sept. 2024 to further develop and expand Hamilton International over a 49-year term. The deal secured significant investment from TradePort, a wholly owned subsidiary of Vantage Group, a global airport development and transportation infrastructure leader.
