SUMMARY:Creating a One Liner for Your Business - Capture The Most Peoples's Attention Without Boring Them
DESCRIPTION:“People don’t buy the best products; they buy the products they can understand the fastest.” \n\n\n\nThink about the last time someone asked you “what do you do”? How did you answer it? \n\n\n\nAs business owners\, we get asked this all the time. If you’re like most people\, you probably started off by saying something like “my family started the business twenty years ago and then I got involved ….” or maybe you said something like “well\, it’s complicated”. \n\n\n\nEven if you didn’t answer exactly like above\, chances are you answered the question in such a confusing way the person you’re talking to forgot what you said two minutes later. When you don’t have a clear answer to the question “what do you do” it’s almost like asking someone to come into the door of your business and then turning them around and shoving them right back out. \n\n\n\nIf you don’t answer the question\, “what do you do” in a simple way\, people will forget about what you said the second you stop talking. Why? Because you haven’t told them the problem that you solve or how you make their life better. You haven’t answered that question in such a way that peaks people’s interest and makes them curious about your brand. \n\n\n\nIn this short lunchtime session hosted by the Hamilton Business Centre\, we’ll cover: \n\n\n\n\nwhat is a one liner and why you need one for your business\n\n\n\nhow to effectively write a compelling one liner for your business that captures the most people’s attention without boring them\n\n\n\nhow to use a one line to position your business so people immediately know the problem you solve and how it will make their life better\n\n\n\n\nPlease note: This session will be delivered virtually. A Teams invitation link will be sent to you in the registration confirmation email. Please be sure to check your email after registering. \n\n\n\nIf you are unable to attend\, please cancel your registration via email or call 905-540-6400.

SUMMARY:Topic Next in Line: Building Future leaders with Succession Planning
DESCRIPTION:Location: Online. \n\n\n\nLearn the essential elements of succession planning for your small business! \n\n\n\nEvery business will face a transition the only question is whether it will be planned or reactive. Join us on Tuesday June 17th at 12pm for this interactive webinar introducing the essential elements of succession planning and shows how early preparation gives owners more stability\, more options\, and more control over their future. \n\n\n\nOur conversation will focus on the realities of family‑run businesses\, where ownership\, leadership\, and relationships often overlap in unique and meaningful ways. We’ll explore how these dynamics shape succession planning and what families can do to prepare for a smooth\, confident transition. At the same time\, the principles we cover apply to any business looking to strengthen continuity and long‑term resilience. \n\n\n\nTopic Next in Line: Building future leaders with Succession Planning cuts through the overwhelm and provides a clear\, accessible roadmap for getting started. In just one hour\, you’ll explore the key areas every business should consider and walk away with practical\, actionable steps you can begin implementing right away. \n\n\n\nPresented by: Family Business Coach/Advisor – Megan Garland \n\n\n\nMegan Garland is a Family Coach and Advisor who supports family enterprises and small business owners as they navigate the complexities of succession\, governance\, and generational transition. She brings a deeply personal understanding of family business dynamics through her experience in a multigenerational enterprise\, where she serves as Chair of the Board and plays an active role in leadership continuity and long term planning. \n\n\n\nBefore establishing her coaching and advisory practice\, Megan spent more than two decades in long term care leadership. In that work\, she supported families through some of their most emotionally charged and transitional moments\, experiences that shaped her ability to guide people through change with clarity\, compassion\, and steadiness. Leading teams that cared for seniors and their families taught her how trust is built\, how conflict emerges\, and how communication can either strengthen or strain relationships. These insights now inform her approach to helping business owning families work through succession with confidence and respect. \n\n\n\nAs a Certified Executive Coach (ICF) and a Family Enterprise Advisor certified through Family Enterprise Canada\, Megan blends professional expertise with personal insight. She helps families strengthen communication\, align expectations\, and prepare the next generation for leadership in a way that honours both the business and the relationships at its core.
