A shipping container could be another tool in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Vince DiCristofaro – CEO of Hamilton’s AVL Manufacturing, normally makes custom enclosures for power systems and large generators. Now, AVL Manufacturing is going to turn shipping containers into mobile medical triage modules to help with the testing and treatment of infected COVID-19 patients.

“We saw a need and we readjusted our engineering department to see what we can do to make this happen” – Vince DiCristofaro

A standard shipping container is 40 feet long by eight feet wide by 9.5 feet high. The plan is to outfit each one with beds, windows, lights, doors, a diesel generator, a heating and cooling system, and a ventilator, if they become available.

AVL Manufacturing has several clients lined up with orders in the U.S, and Canada. Some of which have expressed an interest in purchasing dozens of the modules.
